The customer is a sole distributor of an imported medical product that is in great demand. He has extensive, countrywide inventory-management and distribution needs, with minimum dwell-time at the port of entry and transit warehouses.
Analysis
The substantial volumes, which include considerable outsize pieces, entail large-scale and intensive operations to ensure speed, safety and security. Regulatory expertise is required to reduce transit time, dispense with the need for warehousing and support a Just-in-time delivery. A wide network is necessary to enable complete distribution.
Business Solution
Blue Dart offers a complete logistics solution. Large vehicles are deployed directly at the Port, with a special task force designated to perform daylong operations. The goods are transported to the warehouse in an octroi*-free zone, segregated into their various components and processed through inventory control to be ready for despatch by daybreak. Regulatory clearances are planned in advance to ensure seamless flow, and the shipments are forwarded to their various destinations using Blue Dart's Domestic Priority, Dart Apex (Air Package Express) and Dart Surfaceline (Surface Express) services to meet the despatch requirement for each shipment.
The customer is privy to a customised distribution network to suit his individual needs, and has access to a real-time information management system to support his own customer-service requirements.
